Note that this doesn't actually close the thread, it just notifies people that the OP is done with the thread and there is no point in continuing discussion.
Also, confirming that thread closing and renaming can only be done by a mod. Just PM one if you need something closed/renamed desperately, otherwise just leave a message and someone will see it.

In regard to the Ventari's sections, I might add that editing your top post and putting in ***Closed by OP*** at the top (deleting the content is not necessary, but might be prudent) will meet our requirements for closing a thread before starting a new.

Prudent in Ventari's, annoying everywhere else. If it's a Q+A thread, please do not edit the original post to read "Answered - please close" - as that leaves an annoyingly mysterious thread in the permanent archive.
